BARC Outreach Programme at Don Bosco College of Engineering

The Training and Placement Cell of Don Bosco College of Engineering organized BARC Outreach Programme on ‘Career Opportunities in the Department of Atomic Energy’ on Tuesday, 23 January 2024 for the BE and TE students of Mechanical, Civil, ETC, and Computer Engineering. The objective of this programme was to apprise the students about the work being carried out in Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)  in the frontline areas of Research and Development and inform them about the career prospects in DAE.

Dr. Jayshankar Dubey, Scientific Officer at the Post Irradiation Examination Division (PIED) of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) spoke about the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Training Schools (BARC TSs) at Mumbai, Kalpakkam and Hyderabad. He instilled in the students the right attitude of hard work and perseverance to achieve higher goals in life.

Dr. Veerendra Sharma, Scientific Officer at the Solid-State Physics Division (SSPD) of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in a detailed form presented the information about the training centers conducting the One-year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES). This course is aimed to train and subsequently absorb deserving and motivated candidates, with a bachelor’s degree in different Engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Instrumentation and Nuclear engineering) to pursue a career in frontline areas of Nuclear, Accelerator and Material Science and Technology in various units of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). The speakers emphasized the career opportunities, the eligibility, and the emoluments received during the training at BARC.
