INDUCTION PROGRAMME FOR NEW TEACHING STAFF

Don Bosco College of Engineering conducted Induction Programme for the New Teaching Faculty on 22 July, 12 August, 08 November & 09 November 2017. The focus of the Induction Programme was on teaching excellence, educational innovation, faculty interaction, use of ICT in classroom, ensures faculty support, quality control, and to provide the faculty with time to acquire new competencies required in the teaching learning process.

Module One was on Teaching Learning Process and the Resource Person; Roseline Fernandes, Assistant Training Placement Officer, Don Bosco College of Engineering presented a session on Course Planning and Assessment. Avila Naik, Assistant Training Placement Officer, Don Bosco College of Engineering under the same Module gave her session on Use of ICT in Classroom, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Use Focused Activities in the Classroom, Teaching Pedagogy, Problem Based Learning, and Need for Documentation.

Module Two was on Positive Attitude and Psychology and the Resource Persons, Maya Lin Noronha, Counselor, Don Bosco College of Engineering; and Grebian Alemao, Counselor, Don Bosco College of Engineering spoke on Classroom Management, Mentoring, and To Create a Positive Attitude in the Class, Understand Student Psychology, Student Conduct and Problems in and out of the class, and Ethics and Values in our day to day life. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director, Don Bosco College of Engineering presented his views on Pedagogy of Presence to the attendees.

Module Three on Overall Development was the last session of the Induction Programme. The sessions were conducted by Rajesh Gaonkar, Training Placement Officer, Don Bosco College of Engineering and Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, Don Bosco College of Engineering. Rajesh presented his session on the focus on Networking in today’s world, Profile and Personality Enhancement, Interpersonal Skills, and how to deliver best presentations with the right Presentation Skills. Dr. Neena Panandikar spoke on Upgrade of Skills and Qualification for a teacher and Teaching Pedagogy.

The Induction Programme ensured that the new teaching faculty will use technology in education, adopt and enhance the teaching learning process, incorporate problem based learning in classroom and laboratories and encompass positive attitude and ethics towards work and life and focus on building up the professional profile. There were hands on activities during the sessions to enable faculty participation and involvement. The feedback session and certificates distribution will be held at the beginning of the next semester.
