REPORT ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS CAMP (EAC)

Don Bosco College of Engineering kick started a three day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) for final year engineering students on 9th August 2018. The camp is sponsored by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) under the DST-NIMAT Programme.

The first speaker was Mr. Ryan Vaz, Founder Infinyt3D. He spoke on How to convert an Idea into an Enterprise. Using simple household materials as an example, Mr. Vaz encouraged the students to brain storm in groups to discuss innovative uses of the products. He taught them how a simple idea could convert into potentially bigger business.

The second session was conducted by Mr. Sushant Surlakar, Founder Emerging Minds Academy who spoke on the Charm of Becoming an Entrepreneur, Creativity and Problem Solving. He shows them practical real world businesses like Amazon, Nirma, Flipkart that started small by identifying problems in society but grew into giant businesses.

On the second day 10th August 2018, Ms. Suwarna Surlakar, Founder Codewell Computers discussed the importance of patenting and how it can help safeguard ideas. She explained the process and advantages of patenting. She also encouraged and motivated the students to choose their final year project wisely.

Mr. Tushar Sawant, Manager CIBA explained the government schemes available for startups and small businesses. He explained the Chief Minister Rojgar Yojana and the Prime Minister Revenue Generation Scheme. The last session was conducted by Startup Uncle Mr. Rajula Gupta who spoke from his experience of starting several businesses and he explained different ways of generating funds like angel funding, bootstrapping, etc.

Dr. Mridula Goel, Professor, BITS –Pilani Goa campus conducted a session on the Business Model Canvas on 11th August 2018. She practically helped the students fill the business model canvas for the ideas they had. She was accompanied and assisted by Ms. Satyakirti Phaldessai.

The EAC saw active participation from more than 75 final year students who were also made aware of the various rules, regulations, documentation required to start their own business. The students had a good learning experience and were motivated to take the first step towards being their own boss.

The EAC was organized under the banner of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell and coordinated by Prof. Roseline V. C. Fernandes
